The new academic year has begun, and you’re all gearing up for another exciting journey ahead. Along with new books and notebooks, many of you have already stocked up on the stationery items you’ll need and yes, there’s nothing as thrilling as using fresh, new supplies.
To add a personal touch to your stationery, here’s a fun idea that costs nothing and can be made instantly: a bookmark! Over the years, we’ve made all sorts of bookmarks, but the one we’re about to create will truly thrill you.
The best part? Creativity knows no bounds, so let your imagination lead the way!
Things you’ll need:
Small flowers or petals (real or artificial — both work beautifully)
Leaves of various sizes
A 6-inch piece of ribbon (any colour, preferably matching your flowers)
Hole punch
Wide transparent tape
Clipboard (to help you work neatly)
Directions:

Lay a strip of transparent tape flat on the clipboard (sticky side up). It should be at least 6 inches long, or as long as you want your bookmark to be. Make sure to leave an extra inch at the top for punching a hole later; picture 2.
Carefully place the leaves and petals on the sticky side of the tape. You can create a pattern by placing them diagonally or however you like; picture 3.
Keep arranging the leaves and petals until you reach your desired length. Again, don’t forget to leave about an inch of space at the top; pictures 4 and 5.
Sealing is the trickiest part! Now, take another piece of transparent tape the same length as that of the base and gently place it on top, covering the design completely. Do this slowly and steadily to keep the petals and leaves in place and to avoid air bubbles; picture 6.
Once the top tape is in place, neatly trim the edges to shape your bookmark. Then, punch a hole through the clean space at the top; picture 7.
Insert the ribbon through the punched hole and tie a knot securely but gently, as the tape isn’t very sturdy. Be careful not to tear it; pictures 8 and 9.
And that’s it! Your adorable, nature-preserved instant bookmark is ready. Take it to school and impress your friends with your creativity!
