SWABI, May 15: About 250 adult literacy centres have been opened in the Swabi district under the NWFP Literacy Project. A inaugural ceremony was held here on Monday, which was attended by officials of the literacy department.

The officials said that of the 250 centres, 95 were for men and 155 for women, adding that the focus was on raising the ratio of women’s literacy. They said a teacher would be appointed for each centre, adding that their performance would be monitored.

Each of the teacher would be paid a monthly salary of Rs2,000.
