Have you ever thought of diving into the world of words? I never thought that too, but recently I did and discovered a new hobby — writing — a hobby I never thought I would enjoy.

I’ve started writing for the past few weeks. Whether it’s descriptive, narrative or argumentative, I enjoy writing them all. It is a very delightful hobby that gives a sense of freedom, as it allows me to express my thoughts and ideas in an organised way.

The writer-reader connection: You must have felt a connection with the writer at least once in your life. That is the power of words, they connect people from different eras, backgrounds and cultures. As the pen of a writer flawlessly moves on the paper and the eyes of a reader move across the article a connection is established between the two.

This symbolises the significance of writing and surprises me that indeed the strength of words is undeniable. It can be used as a tool to shape minds, inspire individuals, change views and ignite changes that have a lasting impact. But in itself, writing is a productive hobby that has wide ranging benefits.

Here are some of the benefits of writing:

Cognitive abilities: Before writing anything, one has to acquire as much knowledge about the subject as can be done. This not only enhances our researching capabilities and analysis, but also helps us put our ideas into words.

For example, the autobiographies of notable people contain their feelings and experiences, which influence people from all walks of life, inspiring others to learn from their remarkable efforts and qualities.

Increased knowledge: You may be jealous or look up to the one student who knows everything in your class. Well it turns out that writing also helps with that. You learn about a variety of topics and it is also correlated to reading, so you get to know the latest information by skimming through magazines.

Reading boost: As I mentioned, that reading and writing are connected, so writing often leads to a new hobby — reading — which opens up a whole new world. This helps you build vocabulary and express ideas clearly so there are fewer chances of being misunderstood.

New perspectives: Have you ever been fascinated by learning about others point of views? That happens in writing as well. You get to know about new ideas and your acceptance and tolerance level increases.

Creativity: The best thing is that you can use language creatively and freely. It has a lot of room for innovation. Many great writers have introduced new ideologies, words and phrases.

William Shakespeare was the first to use the word assassination in his famous play Macbeth and we still use this word today. Language evolves and you can contribute to it after all inventing new words is a fascinating idea.

In a nutshell, writing shapes us and makes us thoughtful individuals who can talk about various topics, make sound decisions and have unbiased approach. It introduces us to a world of words where everything is possible. Writing is not just about scribbling words on a piece of paper instead it is about creating a purposeful and well-structured document.
