HYDERABAD: A grief-stricken Hyderabad was all woes and cries as 44 of its youth — victims of [a] ghastly road tragedy near Murree yesterday [July 6] — were laid to eternal rest this afternoon in different graveyards here. All educational institutions, shops and other business establishments remained closed in respect [for] the dead, and the whole city presented a gloomy look as the young students — all belonging to Government City Arts College — were consigned to their eternal abodes amidst grim ... scenes. ... ...[I]n all 171 students of City College had gone on [a] study-cum-excursion trip of hill stations... . Of them, 44 died in the accident.

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Tyre, Lebanon,] Israeli planes and gunboats rocketed, bombed and shelled Palestinian camps in southern Lebanon early today [July 7], killing 11 people and wounding 14. Those killed included a father and his five children. Commando spokesman said the Israelis lost a Phantom jet and suffered naval casualties.
