DADU: A large number of women staged a demonstration outside Kotri Press Club on Tuesday in protest against unannounced and prolonged electricity loadshedding and authorities’ failure to replace the faulty transformers.

Led by Apa Rashida, Ms Iman and Ms Farzana, the protesters chanted slogans, demanding immediate restoration of electricity and an end to power crisis in Qalandarabad Colony that had made their lives unbearable.

According to the protesters, their area had been without electricity for the past 15 days, with loadshedding lasting up to 18 hours a day. They expressed deep concern over the impact of the power outages on children, the elderly and the sick, who were suffering in extreme heat without any relief.

The protesters criticised the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) administration for ignoring their repeated complaints and failing to take any meaningful action.

They threatened to block roads in protest if the electricity was not restored immediately and unannounced loadshedding did not come to an end.
