MIRPURKHAS: A 17-year-old girl and her alleged lover of almost the same age died by suicide by hanging themselves with a rope from a tree in Ghulam Rasool Shah village, Kot Ghulam Mohammad taluka, early on Sunday morning.
Villagers found bodies of Anita Solangi, 17, and, Lekhraj Mal, 18, hanging from the tree and informed police, who shifted the bodies to taluka hospital for post mortem. The bodies were later handed over to their heirs.
They said the boy and the girl loved each other but it was unclear what made them take the decision to die by suicide.
Kot Ghulam Muhammad SHO Farman Ali said that the victims were residents of the same village and their parents claimed their was no friction between the two families.
He confirmed that Anita Solangi was Muslim and Lekhraj was Hindu but the families made light of their children’s affection for each other.
The bodies were handed over to families for burial after completion of legal formalities, he said.
Boiling oil thrown over man
Owner of a sweet shop suffered serious burns when his employee threw boiling oil on him during an altercation at 10-Mile Mori in the jurisdiction of Kot Ghulam Muhammad police on Sunday.
Sources said that Kashif Jatt sustained serious burns and was rushed to Kot Ghulam Muhammad taluka hospital from where he was referred to LUH Hyderabad burns ward for further treatment.
The suspect Gulzar had fled after the incident but police managed to detain him soon afterwards.
The victim’s relatives complained that police were forcing them to settle the dispute with the suspect and were avoiding to register the case despite repeated requests.
