NAROWAL: The police have recovered a six-year-old girl from the district Vehari who was kidnapped from Sambrial by her neighbours to be sold in Karachi.

Ghulam Qadir, a resident of village Kot Wadhan, tehsil Sambrial, told the police that he had gone to work while his wife had left their three children, Shahid (9), Taiba (6) and Abdul Hadi (3) at home. When they returned, they found Taiba missing. They later found that their neighbour, Muhammad Ajmal, and his wife, Rani Tayyaba, had taken their daughter, locked their house and left for an unknown location. Sambrial Police registered an FIR against the suspects.

Sialkot District Police Officer Faisal Shahzad told Dawn that Ajmal and Rani were living in a rented house and the locals did not know even about their native place. He added that the police traced the suspects, conducted a raid in district Vehari and safely recovered a Taiba. He said the police arrested both the suspects. The police later handed over the recovered girl to her parents.

According to police sources, the couple was going to sell the minor girl in Karachi.
