LAKKI MARWAT: Speakers at a conference held here the other day blasted the indifference of the international community to the Gaza situation, where thousands of innocent Palestinians, including women, children and elderly, have been martyred in the merciless Israeli bombardment.

The conference was held at the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader and former district nazim Ishfaq Ahmad Khan Meenakhel in Lakki city to express solidarity with the oppressed Muslims of Gaza.

PTI activists, area elders and a good number of people were in attendance.

The participants adopted a unanimous resolution to show solidarity with Palestinians and condemn Israeli aggression against them.

Asks world community to help stop massacre in Gaza

“Why are the United Nations, human rights bodies and other international organisations silent on the worst kind of aggression in human history and genocide of innocent people in Gaza being carried out by Israeli forces,” Mr Meenakhel and other speakers questioned.

They said on one hand the world was eager to save children from polio, while on the other the massacre of children was continuing in Gaza.

The former nazim declared the Israeli aggression state terrorism on the land of Palestine, shedding blood of innocent Muslims.

He asked the international community to take notice of Israeli barbarism.

GIRL ASSAULTED: A five-year-old girl was assaulted allegedly by a young man in the Mujahid Town area of Lakki Marwat on the first day of Eidul Azha.

The city police said they registered a case against a suspect, Hasan Sardar, when the victim along with her father reported the incident.

The girl told police that she was present outside her house when the suspect came there, took her to the nearby thick bushes and subjected her to assault.

She said she came to her house and narrated the ordeal to her father.

Sub-inspector Noor Aslam Khan said the police traced and arrested the suspect within one hour of the incident.

Separately, three proclaimed offenders were arrested in injured condition after exchange of fire with police in Lakki and Bannu the other day.

A police official in Lakki said an exchange of fire took place between criminals and a police party in Mir Hazar Khanzadkhel area. He said the law enforcers launched a search when the exchange of fire stopped and overpowered an outlaw, Farmanullah, in injured condition.

The official said the police seized a hand grenade, an assault rifle and ammunition from the man, who was wanted by Ghaznikhel, Tajori and Shahbazkhel police in murder, attempted murder and other cases.

Also, two drug traffickers were injured and arrested during an exchange of fire in the Shaikhan area of Bannu the other day.

An official said a police party came under attack when it started laying a siege around a narcotics den in the area.

“Luckily, all policemen remained safe in the attack and they succeeded in arresting two drug barons after retaliatory fire,” he claimed and identified the men as Cheenar and his brother, Bailtoon, who were shifted to a hospital.

The official said both were wanted in 44 cases, mostly pertaining to drug trafficking.

The police also seized an assault rifle, a pistol and ammunition and two kilogrammes hashish from them, the official said.
