PESHAWAR: The provincial capital sizzled at 44 degree Celsius on Sunday amid a rain forecast by the Met department on Monday (today). The Met department said the highest temperature in Peshawar recorded during the day was 44 degree Celsius.

A Met department official told Dawn that the heat wave lasted till June 12 and currently a weather system was active across the province. He said under the influence of this system, parts of the province were to receive rain and also gusty winds. He said that the weather system was likely to persist till June 16.

The official said the provincial capital on Sunday afternoon witnessed gusty winds of up to 20-20 knots intensity.

The official said there was possibility of rain in the provincial capital on Monday (today).
