KOHAT: Two tribesmen were killed in a suspicious blast inside a house in Akhorwal area of Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision of Kohat district on Sunday, rescue officials said.

They said Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call from the control room, and shifted the bodies to a local hospital for postmortem.

The emergency teams also cleared the area and the house, which had been badly damaged in the blast.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Jawad Afridi said that the deceased were identified as Zeeshan, 28, resident of Qasimkhel, and Fareed, 22, hailing from Sheraki area, currently residing in Sra Khawara area of Darra.

SHO Darra Adamkhel police station Fareed Khan told Dawn on contact that the house belonged to Sakhi Jan. He said some people from the neighbouring house were residing in it, who were perished in the blast.

The police officer further said that it was an explosive device, but at present he could not give details about the quantity used in it, adding that the investigations branch and the bomb disposal squad would be able to give a report on blast’s nature.

However, he said a case under section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code, and 3/4 of Explosives Act had been registered.
