MALAKAND: Armed motorcyclists killed a transgender person and injured the driver of the car they were travelling here on Monday.

According to officials at the Bacha Khan Shaheed Kopar police station, the injured, Naveed Ahmed of Mardan, in a statement, said he along with transgender persons Shahabuddin alias Wafa, Imran alias Yab, Usman Ali and Rambil alias Salma had gone to Harichand, Charsadda district for a wedding ceremony on Monday night.

He said on their return to Mardan, an attacker, identified as Shaukat and his accomplice, opened fire with a Kalashnikov on his car. He said as a result of the firing, Shahabuddin died on the spot, and he himself got injuries.

The complainant said the accused managed to escape after the firing.

The Malakand Levies registered a case against the accused and shifted the injured driver to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Dargai.
