Reports said Syed Tanvir Shah, practicing lawyer and village lumberdar, was also affiliated with a shrine seat in Dhag Sharif.

He was gunned down in his fields by a man identified as Sultan, alias Chana, of village 73/EB.

According to Saddar Station House Officer Ashiq Abid, the two were involved in a court case over a two-acre land dispute.

Police took Shah’s body for forensic examination, and a postmortem was conducted at Arifwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

CTD: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a suspected militant affiliated with a banned outfit near the Passco office, Ghala Mandi, on Friday.

CTD officials said the suspect, Hamza, a resident of Basti Shado Khan in district Layyah, was linked to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and Al-Kharij Fitna. He was reportedly on a mission when arrested.

Explosive materials including detonators, prima cards, wires, dry batteries, electric circuits, and an improvised explosive device were recovered from his shoulder bag. A bomb disposal squad defused the device.

A case has been registered under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Act and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act on the complaint of a CTD inspector.
