PESHAWAR: Six members of a family, including women and children, were killed over a murder enmity in the jurisdiction of Urmar police station on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Monday morning, the police said.

They said the only survivor of the family, Naseem, who took shelter behind a drum, reported that their relatives entered their house and killed six persons, including a three-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, two women and two elders.

According to the FIR he got registered with the police, they were asleep at night when he heard a sound and saw Shamshad, Mansoor and Khan Mohammad, enter their house and open fire. He said six persons died on the spot, while one sustained injuries.

He informed the police that the reason behind the killing was death of a woman, who, the persons he nominated in the FIR believed was killed by them [Naseem’s family].

Police said a second male member of the same family also survived since he was living in another house. They said both the families were relatives.

The police said the woman, who died three days ago, was Naseem’s wife, adding two of the accused persons, were believed to be her brothers.

The police said death of Naseem’s wife was never reported to police.

Locals placed the bodies on the GT Road to protest the killings. Police officials later held talks with the protesters, leading to opening of the road.
