KARACHI: Karachi will participate in the international “One Run” half-marathon for the second consecutive year on Saturday, organisers announced on Thursday.

Over 2,000 local and international runners are expected to tackle one of four race distances — 1km, 5km, 10km or 21.1km — here along the coastal Emaar Route, starting at Emaar Sales Centre.

The event, organised by Hero League, promotes inclusivity, welcoming families, first-time runners, and competitive athletes.

The first event of the marathon was held in Pakistan in the year 2024.

“This partnership reinforces Pakistan’s growing footprint in global sports,” said Shoaib Nizami, CEO of Sports in Pakistan, highlighting the country’s “sports talent, landscapes, and hospitality.”

Concurrently, the marathon’s Russian iteration ZaBeg.RF, will draw 180,000 participants across its ninth edition. Globally 40,000 runners from over 20 countries — including Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Brazil, Qatar, China, Egypt, India, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Chile, Lebanon, Armenia, Tunisia, Venezuela — will join the event.
