Passengers have been asked to cooperate as flight operations were suspended amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, according to a statement by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) spokesperson.

“In view of the air safety, some routes are restricted as a precautionary measure, which affects flights in this sector,” the statement said.

It further said, “Temporary closure of routes is done for the safety of domestic airlines’ assets and passengers.

“Passengers are requested to understand the sensitivity of the matter and cooperate with the airline staff.”

“To facilitate passengers, the PIA call centre is keeping them updated through their numbers,” the statement said, adding that the authority was looking after the passengers of the diverted flights, including arranging their accommodation and meals.
