HYDERABAD: A number of auto-rickshaws, pushcarts, motorcycles and stocks of different merchandise were destroyed when a major fire broke out in a warehouse and engulfed adjacent structures in the Pinyari area on Tuesday evening.

It started from a godown (warehouse) of different merchandise in Liaquat Colony and engulfed the adjacent open spaces, where many auto-rickshaws, loading vehicles, some motorbikes and several pushcarts were parked.

Gas cylinders of the vehicles exploded when the flames swept through them.

Among the badly affected structures were a bangle workshop and a plastic bottles manufacturing unit.

Rescue personnel rushed to the spot and put out the blaze.

The cause of the fire could not be determined immediately. The DC told the media that an inquiry to ascertain the actual cause of fire would be started after cooling process.
