KARACHI: Mr Li Hsien-nien, Vice-Premier of the People’s Republic of China, said in Ka­­rachi last night [April 24] that Sino-Pakistan friendship had “struck roots in the hearts of the people in both the countries”. Speaking at a banquet, hosted by the Acting Governor [of Sind], Mr Justice Abdul Kadir Shaikh, at the … Governor’s House, he said “it not only accords with the fundamental interest of our people, but is in the interest of the Third World’s cause of unity against imperialism and hegemonism”. Speaking about Pakistan’s economic development, Mr Li Hsien-nien said, “we have been deeply inspired and have learnt a great deal. We sincerely wish you will make new and steady progress on your road of advance”.

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Peking,] Premier Chou En-lai said today [April 24] Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam were linked to China “like the lips to the teeth” and Peking would always support the “just struggles” of their peoples. “We have always considered it our bounden internationalist duty to support and aid the Indo-Chinese peoples in their revolutionary struggle,” he said... .
