LAHORE: A UK-returned Pakistani woman was allegedly tortured and robbed of her cash and gold by two armed men in the Cantonment area here on Monday in the jurisdiction of Factory Area police.

As per police sources, the woman was on way to market in Zaman Colony when she was intercepted by two armed motorcyclists.

The incident was also captured by CCTV cameras in the area.

The CCTV footage showed that the suspects held her at gunpoint.

As she cried for help and offered resistance, the robbers tortured her with the butt of a gun.

One of the robbers also fired warning shots on seeing some passersby near the crime scene, the footage showed.

As per some eyewitnesses, the woman tried to run for shelter, but an armed man chased and overpowered her again, and snatched cash and gold ornaments from her.

Both criminals later fled the scene along with the looted items on a motorcycle.

On being informed of the street crime, a police team rushed to the scene and collected evidence.

The police have launched an inquiry into the incident before lodging the case against unknown armed men.

DIG operations took notice of the incident and directed the Cantonment SP to form two teams to track down the criminals involved in the crime.

The husband of the woman, Waqas, told reporters that his wife is a UK national and was robbed in broad daylight by two armed men, adding that she was still in shock because of the armed robbery.

Further investigations are underway.
