TOBA TEK SINGH: One of the four suspects who allegedly gang-raped a married woman and her sister during a dacoity at Kamalia was killed on Thursday in an “encounter” with Saddar police.

A press release said that a police patrolling party signaled four motorcyclists, but they opened fire on them.

It said that the suspects took positions in a sugarcane field and kept on firing on police which returned the fire.

Following the crossfire, the attackers fled away, leaving behind a critically injured suspect who was arrested by police.

The injured suspect was identified as Waris Ali of Chak 731-GB, who was one of the four men accused of gang-rape of two women on April 10 night in an outhouse at Mouza Jhallar Sagla. Waris later died while being shifted to Kamalia THQ Hospital.

The police claimed he succumbed to his bullet injuries, inflicted by his own fleeing accomplices.

MURDER SUSPECT: A man who is accused of killing three persons, including a woman, and was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) seven years ago, was arrested on Thursday by Chak Jhumra, Faisalabad, police.

A spokesperson for police claimed that the accused, Iftikhar, had allegedly killed one Kamran over enmity in 2018, and was declared as a PO.

He also recently shot dead his sister-in-law, Iqra, and her friend, Mazhar, over “honour” on April 14.
