KHYBER: Residents of Tirah Valley staged a protest demonstration against the killing of a 12-year-old girl in a mortar fire.

Sources in the valley said a mortar shell fired by security forces mistakenly hit the house of Meenat Khan in Mastikhel area, killing his daughter, Aamina.

Residents of the Mastikhel area then took the body to the local army camp and placed it there. They also pelted a security vehicle with stones.

The deceased was later buried in her ancestral graveyard with local people attending her funeral in large number.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Khyber chapter organised a protest demonstration at Bab-i-Khyber in Jamrud as part of the party’s campaign to push for the release of their leader Imran Khan and others.

A large number of party workers attended the protest gathering with MNA Iqbal Afridi threatening to march on Islamabad if their incarcerated leaders were not released.
