SWABI: Relatives of a man, who was shot dead, brought his body from Yar Hussain area to the Karnal Sher Khan Chowk in the district headquarters, covering over 40 kilometres distance, to demand the arrest of his killers.

While filing an FIR with the Yar Hussain police station, mother of the deceased, Asad Khan, said that they were sitting in the courtyard of their house when Siddiq Khan, and his brother Hussain Khan, forced their way into their house, and one of them opened fire with a Kalashnikov, killing her son on the spot.

The police said the cause of the incident was a dispute over a house.

Later, the relatives took the body for burial after police assurance that the accused would be arrested.

Meanwhile, a rickshaw driver, identified as Karim Khan, 28, hailing from Charbagh village of Razaar, was shot dead in the jurisdiction of Swabi city police station on Panjpir Bypass on Saturday.

A Rescue 1122 team shifted the body to Bacha Khan Hospital for autopsy.

The family said they had an old enmity with a family belonging to the Buner district. Mohammad Jaseem, a brother of the deceased, registered an FIR against Salah Mohammad and Gul Nazir of Buner.

Also in the day, a motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with a car at Kala Bridge on the Swabi-Jehangira Road on Saturday, said rescue officials.

The accident occurred due to over-speeding. The deceased was identified as Waseem Khan.

BAIL REJECTED: A local court on Saturday rejected the bail of Yousuf Ali Khan, a former district general secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, in a case of possessing a Kalashnikov, and sent him to Swabi judicial lockup. Mr Ali was arrested by the police on Friday.

However, he alleged that he was arrested on the directives of former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaisar.

In a video message shared on social media about four weeks ago, he had alleged that the ruling party leaders used substandard material in various projects, including the construction of Kala Bridge.
