CHITRAL: Rain and snowfall have been continuing across Chitral for the past two days resulting in road closures at various places, causing inconvenience to commuters.

Reports of snowfall have been received in most areas of Upper Chitral, including Laspur, Yarkhun, Broghal, Khot, Reich and Trich, while in Lower Chitral, the valleys of Lot Mountain, including Gobor, Karimabad, Arkari, Prasan and Madak Lisht, have received snowfall.

While traffic is moving on the Lowari Tunnel Road, which connects Lower Chitral to other parts of the country, the road link between Upper Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan has been cut off again due to snowfall in Shandur.

Meanwhile, the main artery running across the valley from Lowari to Shandur has been blocked in Reshun village of Upper Chitral and in Kardam Gol at the Darosh point in Lower Chitral.

The continuous rain has caused flooding in a number of streams in Upper and Lower Chitral.

According to the latest information, Garm Chashma, Bamburate, Sheshi Koh, and Boni Shagram roads have been closed to vehicular traffic.

Meanwhile, a landslide in Karbatori area near Chitral city blocked the Boni Road, trapping hundreds of vehicles on both sides.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the rain and snowfall will continue for the next two days in Chitral valley till March 28.
