LAHORE: Humair Hashmi, an educationist and psychologist, passed away in Lahore on Tuesday. He was 83.

Hashmi was one of Pakistan’s pioneering psychologists, educationist and writer. While his professional life kept him busy, he always found time for reading and writing, delving into books of poetry, art, culture, politics and more.

Over the years, he has written extensively for magazines and newspapers, in Pakistan and abroad. His work has appeared in research journals in the USA while some of it has been included in textbooks recommended at the graduate and postgraduate levels for psychology in the USA and Canada. Being an educationist, he taught at different educational institutions such as Government College Lahore, Lahore Grammar School and Imperial College.

His books included Verses from My Heart and the Four Dervishes of Lahore.

Humair Hashmi is survived by his wife Moneeza Hashmi, his two sons and their families.

He was laid to rest at Model Town Graveyard.

Qul will be held at 102-H block, Model Town, on Wednesday (today), between Zuhr and Asr prayers (Dua at 4:30pm).
