GILGIT: Ghizer police arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the rape of unmarried deaf-blind girl from Yasin Valley, who died last month while giving birth to a stillborn child.

According to Ghizer police, in July last year, a 13-year-old girl, who was deaf and blind from Yasin Valley of Ghizer district in Gilgit-Baltistan, had died in the government hospital while giving birth to a dead baby.

The police had registered an FIR against the man for raping the girl which caused her pregnancy later she died with stillborn baby. The girl was unable to speak or listen. Ghizer police had started investigation into the case to trace the person involved in the rape . Police had collected samples of DNA from some suspects from the area and had sent them for testing.

The process through scientific investigation identified the accused involved in the crime. On Friday, Ghizer police arrested the suspect involved in the sexual assault of the girl.
