SHANGLA: Two women were killed and three other persons were injured when a jeep heading towards Asharo, a remote area of Lilownai tehsil, plunged into a ravine here on Sunday evening.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Rasool Khan said the jeep was heading towards Asharo from Lilownai village carrying a family. However, it fell into a ravine when it reached Kass Asharo area, resulting into deaths of two women on the spot, and injuries to three others, including a woman and child.

The rescue official said the preliminary reports suggested that the incident occurred after the driver lost control over the vehicle due to the bad condition of the road.

The deceased were identified as Jamila Bibi and Bakhtuna Bibi, and injured as Rawasi Bibi, driver Zahir Rahim and Rehana Bibi, residents of Asharo village.

According to Rescue 1122 official, the bodies and the injured were brought to the District Headquarters Hospital, Alpuri, wherefrom the injured were referred to a hospital in Swat.

The bodies were handed to relatives after fulfilling the medico-legal procedure.
