MUZAFFARABAD: A teenage girl lost her life, and seven others sustained injuries after a passenger jeep plunged off an unpaved hilly road near Muzaffarabad on Thursday.

Police official Manzoor Awan told Dawn that the jeep was heading to Bandi Khatana village from Patikka, about 18 kilometres northeast of here, with eight people on board, including the driver.

However, shortly before reaching its destination, it veered off the hilly road amidst heavy rain, and fell 300 to 400 feet down into a ravine, around 2pm.

As a result, all eight individuals sustained injuries, Mr Awan said.

He stated that the injured were evacuated to the tehsil headquarters hospital in Patikka, where Shazia succumbed to her injuries. — Correspondent
