TOBA TEK SINGH: Two police constables and four girl candidates were booked on Thursday for fraud in police recruitments in Faisalabad.

A press release said Constable Tehseen Zohra and Qasim Ali provided help to some candidates who appeared in the test for posts of constables in the police department. Four girl candidates, identified as Sumbal, Aiman, Amna and Fatima, had failed in the race competition but they, in connivance with both constables, rejoined another race competition for which they were not eligible.

The case has been registered against all six accused with the Millat Town police.

FIVE DIE ON ROAD: Five Tableeghi Jamaat members died and as many were injured when their bus collided with a trailer going ahead of it between Khanewal and Shah Rukn-e-Alam interchanges on M-4.

The bus was carrying Tableeghi Jamaat members from Karachi to Swat. The accident was caused by speeding. Rescue 1122 shifted bodies and injured to Nishtar Hospital, Multan.

Meanwhile, a loader-rickshaw being used for transportation by a gypsy family of Shorkot collided with a trailer on the Dijkot Road at Gojra. As a result, rickshaw driver Ansar Ali died while his wife, Najma Bibi, and sister Saima Bibi were injured critically.

Rescue 1122 report said a rickshaw tyre dislodged. As a result, the rickshaw collided with a trailer coming from Gojra.

Both injured women were shifted to the Gojra THQ hospital.

PTI: Police raided houses of PTI activists at Toba, Kamalia and Pirmahal to arrest them but failed to do so.

The PTI activists included PTI district president advocate Mian Abdul Basit, PTI general secretary of Kamalia tehsil Rai Muhammad Ilyas, Khalid Nawaz Sadhraich, former district general secretary Suhail Ghani and a local leader Mian Imtiaz Ahmad.

PTI district president Mian Abdul Basit told this correspondent by telephone from an unknown place that police were harassing the PTI activists as the party high command had given call to stage protests on Feb 23 against the price hike and inflation.

RAPE: A boy was raped by a youth at Makkah Block of Pirmahal.

Complainant Kashif Habib claimed in his FIR that his 13-year-old son was taken by the suspect to his house where he was raped by him.
