We often deal with the free flow of unstructured thoughts and ideas, only to later struggle to capture them effectively. Or regret not writing them down. So for those moments when you are a philosopher, or a poet, a critique or randomly musing, you can get them written at dictation.io — a website where you dictate it and it will write all that is said.

Dictation.io — is a web-based voice-to-text transcription tool designed for all those looking for a quick and easy way to convert their speech into text whether for note-taking, writing or simple dictation.

Once you open the site, you will thankfully find it clutter-free and also with no ads. The design is minimalist and comes with a user-friendly interface. Upon entering the site, you’re greeted with a large, prominent button to start dictating. The layout is clean, with the text output appearing directly below the dictation button.

Dictation.io supports a variety of languages, including Urdu, in its huge database, it transcribes speech in real-time, you can even dictate basic voice commands for punctuation and formatting, for instance, say “period” to give a period at the end of a sentence or say “new line” to start a new paragraph. But like most voice-to-text tools, the result can be a bit off with strong accents, background noise or unclear pronunciation. So you must speak slowly, clearly and concisely. Also, don’t consider it a final draft, always edit after you are finished dictating.

The website works well for basic voice-to-text, but it doesn’t have better tools like editing options or support for different audio file types. This makes it not great for professional work.

After you finish speaking, you can copy your text or save it on your system. It’s good for quick, casual voice notes. The site is absolutely free and doesn’t require you to sign up.

If you’re looking for a fast and simple solution to dictate your thoughts or notes, Dictation.io is worth trying.
