KARACHI: The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on Wednesday (today) across the province to mark the culmination of celebrations of the annual urs of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

A notification issued by the Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department states: “All offices, autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government, except essential services, will remain closed.”

On Tuesday evening, the Sindh labour department also issued a notification in exercise of the powers vested under the Sindh Factories Act 2015, declaring a public holiday on Wednesday (today) across the province.

A separate notification issued by the registrar of the Sindh High Court stated that the acting chief justice declared “19 February (Wednesday) as holiday” for the SHC, sessions and civil courts in Sindh as well as federal and provincial tribunals /special courts working under the administrative control of the high court.
