KARACHI: A teenage girl and her 20-year-old friend were shot dead in her Malir home on Tuesday morning in the name of so-called honour, police said.

Al-Falah SHO Mohammed Ali Marwat identified the victims as Fatima and Ali Solangi and said that the girl’s father, Azhar, was arrested for the murders.

He said that Solangi worked at a private clinic in the same area and originally hailed from Badin.

He said when the girl’s family came to know about their friendship, they asked Solangi to bring his parents for a formal marriage proposal. However, they came to know that he was already married in his native place.

On Tuesday morning, the SHO said Solangi had gone to Fatima’s house, where her father killed him and his daughter.

The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
