ISLAMABAD: Two additional judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) took oath of office on Monday.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq administered the oath to Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas and Justice Mohammad Azam Khan. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the IHC building.

IHC Senior Puisne Judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Arbab Mohammad Tahir, and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz attended the ceremony.

The District and Sessions Judges, members of Islamabad Bar Council, Islamabad High Court Bar Association and District Bar Association were also present at the occasion. Following the induction of Justice Minhas and Justice Khan, the strength of IHC judges reached 10.

The sanctioned strength of the IHC is 13. The Judicial Commission of Pakistan in its January 17 meeting approved the appointment of these two judges.

The commission was scheduled to appoint four judges; however, none from the remaining 19 nominees secured the required majority votes.
