TAXILA: The Taxila police have solved the murder of a woman who was found dead in her house under mysterious circumstances and arrested her husband in the case.

A police spokesperson said that the case unfolded when a complainant told the police that unknown persons shot her wife dead at their house in the early hours of December 30 last year.

Upon receiving the information, the police registered a murder case against unknown assailants and an investigation was launched.

The probe revealed that the complainant turned out to be the woman’s alleged killer.

The spokesperson said during the investigation, the suspect confessed to having murdered his wife over a marriage dispute.

Separately, the Attock police on Friday foiled a bid to smuggle a huge cache of narcotics worth millions of rupees from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to Punjab and arrested a man.

The police said that acting on a tip-off, Jand police intercepted a Rawalpindi-bound van coming from Kohat at the Makhnor check post and during the search, 10 kilograms of hashish worth millions of rupees was recovered from the baggage of a suspect.

He said that during the preliminary interrogation, he confessed to being a member of an interprovincial racket of narcotics smugglers and was attempting to supply the narcotics to various cities in Punjab.
