Man held for killing trader in robbery

BAHAWALNAGAR: A wanted fugitive who shot and killed a trader during a robbery bid in Faqirwali and managed his escape about two years ago, was arrested on Friday.

The Saddar police said Muhammad Aqib of Chak 86/5R killed a trader Abdul Jabbar during a robbery in Haroonabad and fled the scene along with his two accomplices.

A case was registered against unidentified men and police started an investigation on the matter.

During the investigation, the police came to know about the killer, but Aqib escaped from the district in the meantime. On Friday, the police, on a tip-off, conducted a raid and held him with illegal weapons.

During interrogation, Aqib confessed to killing the businessman.
