BAHAWALPUR: Qutabpur police in Lodhran district claimed to have solved the murder case of a lecturer, whose husband turned out to be the mastermind of her killing, and was arrested, along with four other suspects, including a woman and a hit man.

According to police sources, the suspect, Haseeb, the husband of the victim, Feroza wanted to marry his girlfriend ‘A’.

They say that ‘A’ allegedly asked Haseeb to kill Feroza if he wanted to marry her.

The sources say Haseeb, a few days back, hired a hit man for Rs2.2 million, but he disappeared after receiving Rs0.2m in advance.

Later, Haseeb hired another shooter, Irbaz Khan, a resident of old Shujabad Road, Multan, for Rs1.5m for the task.

As per their plan, Haseeb brought his wife in his car in a street, where Irbaz allegedly killed her and fled away.

The police say though Haseeb claimed that Feroza was murdered during a street robbery, investigators developed suspicion and widened the scope of investigation.

On a tip-off, police took Irbaz into custody, who confessed his crime and disclosed that he was hired by Haseeb.

Police arrested Haseeb, his girlfriend ‘A’, her father and a middle man, who allegedly played role in the deal struck between Haseeb and Irbaz. Further investigations are in progress.

ARRESTED: Multan Airport Security Force (ASF) claimed to have arrested a man who was allegedly smuggling one kilogram ice (heroin) to Sharja.

According to ASF, on suspicion they searched the bag of a Sharja-bound passenger, Waheed Iqbal, a resident of Bannu, and recovered the drug.

The ASF handed the suspect over to the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF), Multan, for further investigation and legal action against him.

INJURED: At least eight persons were seriously injured in a collision between two double-cabin vehicles on Channan Pir Road near Yazman, about 40kms from here.

A team of Rescue 1122, reaching the spot, shifted the injured to Yazman THQ Hospital.
