KARACHI: The Sindh government has extended deployment of Rangers in Karachi for a period of one year.

A Sindh home department letter sent to the interior ministry stated that the provincial government had approved the “extension in deployment period of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh within Karachi division for a period of one year with effect from December 9, 2024 to December 8, 2025 under Clause (i) of Sub-section (3) of Section-4 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 (as amended)”.

Earlier in May, the Sindh cabinet had approved the Rangers’ deployment in Karachi for a period of six months that expired on December 9.
