QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel has directed the authorities concerned to immediately fill 18 vacant magistrate positions in Quetta.

He issued the directive during a briefing on the cleanliness drive and efforts to restore the city’s reputation. It was attended by Quetta Division Commissioner Hamza Shafqat and Principal Secretary to the Governor Hashim Khan Ghilzai.

The governor emphasised the severe lack of coordination and cooperation among relevant departments such as MCQ, WASA, QDA and QDP in implementing the ongoing cleanliness campaign and the restoration of the city’s former grandeur.

He stressed that all stakeholders must unite and actively contribute to restoring Quetta’s glory while ensuring complete interdepartmental cooperation. The governor praised the performance of the commissioner and his team, urging them to ensure that the benefits of these efforts extend to the outskirts of Quetta. He highlighted the importance of transparency and strict monitoring in all related activities.

Governor Mandokhel pointed out that cleanliness and restoration are not solely government responsibilities but a collective duty of all citizens, emphasising the need for active participation from both the government and the public to achieve these goals.

He directed the launch of an extensive public awareness campaign by the commissioner and his team to foster positive changes in citizens’ mindsets and behaviours, particularly among shopkeepers. The governor called for cooperation among all relevant authorities and for efforts to motivate citizens to take ownership of cleanliness and restoration of their city.
