LAKKI MARWAT: Two goods transport vehicles collided head-on on the Peshawar-Karachi Highway here on Monday, killing a driver.

The accident occurred near the Wanda Banochi area of Darra Pezu town, according to police.

An injured person, Abdul Basit of Nowshera, said he was travelling in a truck transporting biscuits from Multan to Peshawar.

“When we reached near Wanda Banochi, an oncoming mini-truck loaded with onions hit our truck, injuring me and three others,” he said.

Mr Basit said the injured included truck drivers Saqib Khan and Nasir Khan, and Kashif Jamal of the other vehicle.

Saqib died on the way to the district headquarters hospital in Tajazai.

Police said they had registered a case of the accident and began investigation.

POLICE RESHUFFLE: Lakki Marwat district police officer Taimur Khan on Monday reshuffled police officials, including two station house officers.

SHO of the Serai Gambila police station Shakil Khan was posted as the SHO of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station. He replaced Amir Khan, who was transferred to theBargai police station.

Sub-inspector Anwarullah Khan, who awaited posting at police lines, was made the SHO of the Serai Gambila police station.

Also on Monday, provincial police officer Akhtar Hayat Khan ordered the transfer of four police officers, including Lakki Marwat district police officer Taimur Khan.

According to a notification, Mr Taimur was posted as the DPO of Lower Kohistan.

Mardan SP (Saddar) Rahim Hussain will replace him as Lakki Marwat DPO.

Dr Zahidullah, who awaited posting at the central police office, has been made the provincial AIG (traffic highways).

Lower Kohistan DPO Mohammad Umer was sent to Mardan to succeed Rahim Hussain as the SP (Saddar).

POLICE DUTY: Bannu regional police officer Imran Shahid has asked the policemen to perform duty with dedication to “win the hearts and minds of people.”

During a certificate distribution ceremony in his office here on Monday, the RPO said the policemen exhibiting outstanding performance deserved to be rewarded and encouraged at all levels.

The recipients of commendation certificates and cash prizes also included Kashif Nawaz, Khanzallah Quraishi and Amir Khan, the spokespersons for the regional and district police officers.

The RPO said those spokespersons exercised their energies to build a positive image of the police force and bridged the gap between the people and police.

He said the police officials, who performed duty with the spirit of serving people, were a valuable asset for the department.

Mr Shahid urged police to behave politely with people and provide them with the required legal and other assistance.
