Have you ever wondered how the rivalry between Optimus Prime and Megatron began? How were the seeds of the iconic Autobot-Decepticon rivalry sown? Or what made Optimus a champion of justice while Megatron embraced darkness? What exactly is Cybertron? And what roles did Optimus Prime and Megatron play there before the war?

If questions like these have crossed your mind while watching any Transformers movie, then Transformers One is a must-watch.

Praised as one of the best entries in the franchise, this animated movie not only traces the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron on their home planet of Cybertron, but also answers many lingering questions. Directed by Josh Cooley, it is the first Transformers movie to be entirely animated, setting it apart from previous live-action adaptations.

It tells the story of how the miner Orion Pax and D-16 are part of the thousands of miners extracting Energon in hopes of Matrix of Leadership, whose return could resolve their energy crisis.

The plot revolves around these two friends who make it their mission to do what they feel is right for them and their people, and that’s where things go from good to really bad. The film also features Keegan-Michael Key as the talkative Bumblebee (B-127), adding a comedic touch. At the same time, Scarlett Johansson, known for her role as Black Widow in Marvel’s Avengers, voices the no-nonsense Elita-1. Jon Hamm and Laurence Fishburne also lend their voices as Sentinel Prime and Alpha Trion in a film that blends high-octane action with surprising emotional depth.

Transformers One explores themes of leadership, vision and the pivotal choices that shape destinies. It offers a fresh and meaningful take on a beloved franchise. If you’re a fan of the franchise, Transformers One is a must-see for understanding the origins of the Autobots.
