PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch electronic Jaidad (property) Card as part of land reforms in the province.

The decision was made during a meeting of the board of revenue, which was chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandpaur.

Provincial minister for revenue Nazir Abbasi, additional chief secretaries Mohammad Abid Majeed and Ikramullah Khan, senior member board of revenue Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah and other senior officials of the department were in attendance.

A statement issued here said that this initiative aimed at providing citizens with easy and secure access to their land record through an integrated system.

Gandapur says Jaidad Card to ensure citizens’ easy access to land records

“The Jaidad Card will initially be introduced in the merged districts and will function as an e-passbook. Through this card, citizens will be able to access all their land records easily by scanning the QR code on the card using a smartphone,” it said.

The meeting was told that Jaidad Card would effectively prevent potential tampering and manipulation in land records. Furthermore, the card would contain complete record of every citizen’s owned land in any district, and a mobile app will be available for verifying the information provided in the card.

On the occasion, Mr Gandapur said that Jaidad Card would be a key initiative of the provincial government in the context of land reforms, ensuring citizens faced no difficulties in accessing their land records.

He added that the provincial government was utilising information and communication technology effectively for land reforms to ensure transparency.

“Moreover, Jaidad Card would not only provide citizens with various facilities but would also help resolve disputes related to property ownership.”

The chief minister directed the relevant authorities to ensure the formal launch of the property card as soon as possible so that citizens could avail this modern facility without delay.

Separately, Mr Gandapur also on Monday launched Adolescent Girl’s Stipend Programme in the merged districts.

Under the initiative launched in partnership with the World Food Programme, girls from grades 6th to 12th in merged districts will receive a monthly stipend of Rs1,000.

The initiative, with a total cost of Rs1.14 billion, will have 82 per cent funding from the KP government and 18pc by WFP. Stipends are conditional on a minimum 70pc attendance and aim to enhance girls’ enrolment in schools, according to a statement.

On the occasion, Mr Gandapur said his government was adopting innovative methods to increase literacy rate among girls.

He said promoting girls’ education remained a top priority as educated girls ensured an educated society. He stressed the need for fostering positive societal attitudes toward girls, and urged parents to follow Islamic teachings in the education and upbringing of their daughters.

Mr Gandapur underlined the government’s commitment to providing equal opportunities across all sectors. “This initiative is intended to nurture girls’ talents to enable them to contribute to national progress.”
