KASUR: A youth died a week after a rabid dog bit him at village Shamaapura near Chunian.

According to reports, the dog had bit 20 years old Allah Ditta and two years old Husnain.

Sources said Allaha Ditta did not go to hospital and was not vaccinated. That’s why he died days after the dog attack. The injured boy was shifted to THQ Hospital where the doctors referred him to Lahore owing to critical condition.

Announcements, however, were made through the village mosque loud speakers at Shamspura, Khokhar Ashraf and Keetan to warn the people to save themselves from stray dogs.

The villagers say some dogs ate a dead animal outside the village and turned rabid, creating panic and fear among the residents. They suspected that several dogs consumed the dead animal and got infected.
