RAWALPINDI: In the wake of terror attack near the Karachi airport which left two Chinese nationals dead, the Rawalpindi police have decided to provide ‘police escort’ to Chinese nationals from airport to their jurisdiction area.

The Chinese national frequently come to Pakistan in connection with their professional duties, a police statement said.

Besides, a separate security plan has been chalked out for the Chinese national, associated with various professions, arriving at IIAP to ensure their safety and to avert any untoward incident, it said.

As part of the security, SP Potohar Division Nasir Nawaz will be supervisory officer, and DSP Cantt, Javaid Iqbal will be the in-charge while Muhafiz Squad two motorcycles, one squad of Dolphin Force and one section of Elite Force will remain present at the airport.

As the Chinese delegation arrives at the airport, the police force will provide security to the nationals in their jurisdiction, the security official said.

In-charges of Chowki Hameeda and Special Protection Unit (SPU) will coordinate with each other and will be responsible for deployment of security for VIP movement.

A senior police officer said that the special protection unit (SPU) deployed at the airport to protect foreigners, will provide security cover to the Chinese delegation and escort them to their destination safely. There are very strict orders that the security of all foreigners, especially the experts and residents, should not be compromised in any case.
