Adele confirms musical hiatus

Adele is taking a lengthy hiatus and bidding farewell to her fans for an undisclosed amount of time.

“I’d like to thank you so much for coming to my show this evening,” Adele said during the final show of her Munich residency, per fan footage shared via social media. “And after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time and I will hold you dear in my heart,” Adele said, adding that she will “fantasise” about the shows she’s played the past three years.

“It has been amazing, I just need a rest,” she said while getting emotional. “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it. I want to live the new life that I’ve been building. I will miss you terribly.” The multiple Grammy winner and single mother previously said she suffers from sciatica and is uncomfortable performing live for long periods.
