QUETTA: A Mineral Department official and his daughter were killed, and six other female family members were injured when their vehicle plunged into a ravine along the Quetta-Zhob highway on Saturday.

Officials said that Inspector Jumma Khan of the Mineral Department was travelling to Zhob with his family when the vehicle veered off a narrow turn near Muslim Bagh and fell into the ravine.

Mr Khan and his daughter died at the scene, while six other female family members sustained injuries. Rescue officials rushed to the site and transported the bodies and injured to Muslim Bagh District Hospital.

Levies officials attributed the accident to the poor condition of the road, which had been severely damaged by recent heavy monsoon rains in the area.
