Gaza death toll rises to 40,786 since Oct 7, health ministry says

At least 40,786 Palestinians have been killed and 94,224 wounded in Israel’s military offensive on Gaza since October 7, the enclave’s health authorities said in a statement, Reuters reports.

The toll includes 48 deaths in the previous 24 hours, the statement added.
