SITUATIONAL IRONY: I, a middle-class resident of Gulistan-i-Jauhar, wish to express my concern regarding the lack of street lights in the area. Roads around Jauhar Chowrangi, Jauhar Mor, Safoora and Samama remain in complete darkness all through the year. The irony of this darkness in the city of lights is dead on those who matter. This negligence on the part of the authorities concerned has led to an increase in snatchings as well as other anti-social activities in the area. The government should address this crucial matter on a war footing.

FOR A PEACEFUL WORLD: In recent times, the world has witnessed numerous geopolitical tensions. From the Sudanese civil war to the genocide in Gaza, and from the war in Ukraine to the turmoil in Bangladesh, the situation in every world region appears to be tense. To resolve all such issues, the United Nations should change its working me- chanism. The composition of the UN Security Council needs to change, and the dominance of its permanent members over global affairs must come to an end. Choosing the path of dialogue as well as diplomatic engagements can pave the way for lasting peace. No matter how many times talks fail, nations should persist until they succeed. The world deserves peace, not further misery and chaos.

SMART ADJUSTMENT: After graduation, most students are left alone to deal with the harsh realities of the job market. Unfortunately, they fail to realise that potential employers tend to look for candidates who are not only academically qualified, but can also demonstrate the ability to apply the skills learned in a real-world setting. As such, candidates need to only adjust their curriculum vitae (CV) as it highlights their unique skillsets, experiences and achievements that are relevant to the targeted job. Similarly, demonstrating all these necessary skills during the interview process increases the chances of getting one’s desired job.
