ISLAMABAD: Senior Puisne Judge of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani on Wednesday said Pakistan was a result of great sacrifices rendered by our ancestors and the rule of law was a key to its survival.

He was addressing participants during the flag-hoisting ceremony at the IHC building in connection with Independence Day.

Justice Kayani said judiciary was striving to uphold the rule of law as well as supremacy of the Constitution.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb said a strong and grass-rooted democracy ensured the prosperity of the country.

He said Pakistan’s future depended on sustainable development and strong democracy, adding that in order to strengthen the country and make it prosperous, it was the responsibility of people of Pakistan to strengthen democracy.

Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) President Riasat Ali Azad also addressed the participants. IHC Justice Arbab Mohammad Tahir was also present at the occasion.

The ceremony was also attended by lawyers from the federal capital.
