TAXILA: A man killed his son-in-law over a domestic dispute in Ballra village in the limits of Bhattar police station in Fatehjang on Wednesday.

According to police, the deceased belonged to a prominent family of the area.

Quoting family members of the victim, police said Zeeshan Faisal had married the daughter of Nadeem Khan some three years ago.

However, differences developed between the couple a few months ago and the woman returned to her parents’ house.

Some elders of both families tried to reconcile the couple but the issue remained unresolved. However, on Wednesday, Nadeem Khan along with his son forcefully entered Zeeshan’s house, shot him and fled away.

The body was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where an autopsy was performed. It was later handed over to the family and a case was registered against the nominated accused who is yet to be arrested.

Meanwhile, armed robbers struck at two places in Taxila and Wah police station limits.

Police sources said Mohammad Ilyas was travelling in a pick-up when three robbers intercepted him on Hakla Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway in the limits of Taxila police station.

They snatched Rs1 million cash from him and escaped.

Separately, two robbers on a motorcycle intercepted Wali Ahmed in New city area in the limits of Wah Saddar police station. They also snatched cash from him and escaped.

On the other hand, Hazro police arrested two proclaimed offenders (POs).

Habib and Imran were wanted in two different cases registered against them and were declared POs by respective courts after they went underground.

On Wednesday, police carried out successful raids on their hideouts and arrested them.

Father, son drown in Indus River

A man lost his life in a botched attempt to save his teenage son from drowning in Indus River in Attock Khurd area on Wednesday, police and Rescue 1122 sources said.

The ill-fated family had come from Nizampur area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Indus River for picnicking.

Atif Shah, 12, went for bathing in the river but lost his balance and started drowning. Upon seeing his son, Tariq Shah, 42, jumped into the water and tried to save him but he too lost his balance and drowned.

Later Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot and with the help of local volunteers retrieved the bodies and shifted them to District Headquarters Hospital Attock.

Separately, a man drowned in a mini dam in Kamrial area in Pindigheb on Wednesday.

Hospital and rescue sources said Raheel Khan went to a dam for picnicking when he slipped into the water and drowned.

Later locals fished out his body and shifted it to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Pindigheb.
