RAWALPINDI: In view of the monsoon rains, the City Traffic Police has issued a special advisory for tourists visiting Murree.

Traffic police officers and wardens in Murree have been directed to facilitate the tourists.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima told Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Traffic Abrar Sarwar and traffic officers and officials that they should perform their duty professionally so that the tourists do not face any difficulty.

A spokesman for the City Traffic Police said the DSP and other officers were also directed to be present in the field and provide all possible facilities to the tourists.

According to the standard operating procedure (SOP), driving licence, fitness certificate for public service vehicles and SOP of the provincial government for entry of large vehicles should be strictly implemented so that no untoward incident occurs in the area.

CTO Fatima said tourists should use mechanically fit vehicles to visit Murree, including keeping wipers and lights in a completely working condition and to avoid speeding due to slippery roads and dangerous turns.

Moreover, drivers should not violate one-way rule and wrong overtaking as all roads in Murree are two-way.

The CTO said tourists should not stop their vehicles on roads to take pictures so that the flow of traffic is not affected. They should cooperate with the traffic and district police officers.

Due to monsoon rains, 450 traffic wardens have been deployed in different parts of the city to maintain traffic. The traffic wardens have also been directed to immediately inform the authorities concerned in case of rainwater accumulating in low-lying areas.
