AN UNFAIR STEP

AN UNFAIR STEP: In its endeavour to appease the ruling elite, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken some very harsh measures where no differentiation is made between the rich and the poor. The ‘non-filer’ status is slapped on just about everyone, including housewives, widows, orphans, poor household workers, rickshaw drivers, labourers etc. What is the logic behind, say, blo- cking SIMs issued in the names of those who are not even ‘earners’, like housewives, as well as those who earn below the taxation cut-off mark which is Rs50,000 per month? The government should immediately come to the rescue of such individuals who are in trouble.

AN ADVICE: This is with reference to the report “CJP comes to ECP’s rescue on reserved seats” (July 2). All I wish to say is that while deciding matters, we should base our decisions on facts of the case, and should not let personal likes and dislikes interfere with it.

DISTRESSED OWNERS: The rightful owners of plots of land in Taiser Town Scheme 45, Sector 25, Phase 2, Category R are distressed and frustrated due to longstanding encroachment on their lands. The relevant authorities should promptly address the matter, ensure necessary action is taken, and expedite the process of handing over the plots of land to the deserving owners. Their wait should end.

EXAM HALLS: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) conducts the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination, but does not provide basic facilities, such as drinking water, to the candidates, who are advised to bring their water in a separate bottle. I wonder what does the FPSC do with the budget it gets? It even takes money from the students who bring mobile phones or notes for revision. Now the question is: who is responsible for fixing the situation?
