ISLAMABAD: On the direction of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, work on Margalla Road expansion project, that had been stalled for 17 years, has resumed.
Mr Naqvi visited the Margalla Road project and inspected the asphalt work. He assessed the quality of the construction work and ordered completion of the project by August 14. He emphasised that the road should be open to traffic before this date and directed the inclusion of a cycle track. He added that Margalla Avenue will be linked to Murree Road.
Chief Commissioner Mohammad Ali Randhawa briefed the minister about the project, saying that it was initiated in 2007 and was supposed to be completed in 2008. Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon and the contractor were also present on the occasion.
